Visiting GraphiStudio, the home of our handcrafted wedding albums
This year, we had planned a longer stay in Europe, so that we could manage to drive to North Italy, in order to visit the company GraphiStudio, our supplier for our Wedding Albums, which we provide as additional service to our couples.
After a 5,5h drive from the beautiful Toscana up to the area, just in front of the Friuli Dolomites, we arrived in Sequals, the next little town to Arba, where GraphiStudio has it’s headquarter. The area is surrounded by beautiful mountains and so we had a bit of a change of views, compared to the Toscana.
The next morning, we had an appointment to view the production of Graphi. We were heartily welcomed by Francesco, who wasn’t supposed to assist us, but he took the time to talk with us through all, what Graphi offers and we had even the chance to meet and talk to the founder (and owner) of Graphi, Tullio Tramontina, as well to Dario Righetto (marketing and PR director). Which other company you visit offers to meet its CEO and talk to him like you know him since a long time? It’s great to see that a big company like Graphi, which services over 150 countries in the world with their products, takes the time and listens to a single photographer like us from Australia.
After that, Francesco showed us through the different steps of the handcrafted production procedures of the albums. We can only say “WOW”! The building for the production is huge! We couldn’t even imagine how big and how detailed the different steps of each process are. The company employs more then 70% women, which are having the patience and the eyes for the little details, as well as a certain percentage of handicapped workers (which they provide specially created work assistance). Walking through the halls, it feels like a great environment to work in. Everyone we met says good morning and they look happy, even though they have to be very focused on what they do. The women have even received a shorter work time for the same amount of money, in order to get their life at home in a balance with family, which resulted in higher performance and better production for the company. We can only say: Well done! It’s risky to change procedures like this, but it has paid off for Graphi.
It’s incredible to see, how well organised and clean the work space is and can only appreciate even more, that our albums have a turnaround of only 4-6 weeks (including shipment to Melbourne). We’ve learned a lot about the different products, especially the paper types. Graphi has invented together with Canon a HD Paper Print, which works on the basis of water and has no chemicals anymore. We didn’t know the differences of this before. Since the photographic paper is based on an old invention, we are highly preferring now the HD Prints, in order to support the quality and long-life of our albums.
Additionally, we were presented with their new product, the YoungBook.MOV, which combines for the first time Photo Album with video. That means, they have integrated a screen in the album box, which can display your video (or a slideshow of photos). We think, that this is a beautiful way to showcase a video, when couples decided to go with photo & video and hope, that our couples will like this new product as well. We will for sure get a sample as soon as possible for our couples to view in our studio.
Another great product we were introduced to, are the Amalfi Prints, which we will showcase soon in our studio and at our next Expo in October.
After so many information and impressions, we had a lunch with Francesco, before we drove into the mountains to visit the Castello Ceconi, a castle, which is owned by Graphistudio and used as a photographer’s academy. They organise regularly seminars and workshops. To get there, you drive through many little towns and old tunnels, before the forest opens suddenly up and presents the castle in front. The sudden view of it has an absolute Wow-Factor! Francesco showed us through the castle, explained us the history and invited us to stay there overnight, when we come the next time to visit them. Hell yes, we definitely will do this. Up there, total peace around you, it surely is a haven on earth.
The next day, we stopped shortly at Graphi, to go through a recap with Francesco and to go through all the samples again. We got many new ideas for personalisations of each of our albums, which we can offer our couples and we will create a Signature Album, available within the next 2 month to our couples. Overall, we are absolutely thrilled, that we have visited this amazing company and appreciate even more the collaboration, in order to provide the best products to our couples. We are looking forward to create many, individual designed and personalised albums for our newlyweds and a long working relationship with Graphi!
