It seems like that this year many of our weddings are accompanied by hot summer weather, so as well at our recent wedding of Angie & Scott. This young couple had already a traditional Vietnamese wedding at the hometown of Angie, in Vietnam, and celebrated a Western ceremony here in Melbourne with their families and friends. They chose Elizabethan Lodge as the perfect place for them, being able to get ready, having ceremony, portraits and reception all at one venue, so that they wouldn’t have to drive around all day. Definitely a good decision on a day with 39°C and lots of wind. They usually planned to have their ceremony in the garden under the gazebo, but this would have meant that their guests would sit in full sun for the duration of the ceremony and this was hard to ask for and wouldn’t have been very enjoyable. Luckily, Elizabethan Lodge had a beautiful chapel with air-conditioning, which was very welcomed by everyone.
Since we had only limited time before the reception to take photos, we die the bridal party photos after the preparation, just before the guests started to arrive. The celebrant Paul, which we know already from our wedding with Cathy and Cary last year April, had a very funny ceremony prepared with the couple, so there was plenty of laughter. After the ceremony we had a bit of time for family group photos, before we started our portrait session. The couple had chosen to do an engagement shooting with us, prior to the wedding and had another shooting in Vietnam, so they felt very confident in front of the camera now and knew pretty well what to do. They both enjoyed the time in the little chapel and venue, as this shortened the time we photographed outside, as it was just too hot.
The reception started on time with the entrance of the bridal party, followed by cutting of the cake and an MC (who was as well the DJ), coming up with some great stuff, giving the entire guests a good laugh. He mentioned, that the first kiss in the chapel as a married couple still needs some practice (it was indeed very short), so he let them kiss throughout the evening. He even got the bridal party to get 6 married couples of the invite guests to come on the dance floor and showcase the newlyweds, how to kiss as a married couple! Absolute fun! He also came up with a blindfold for the groom to get the garter of his bride and exchanging the Angie against one of the groomsmen. We all had our fun with this. Even though it was a boiling hot day, we had an absolute awesome day with this kind couple and were grateful to be a part of it.
