With a previous blog post we introduced you already to our handcrafted, Italian Wedding Albums, made by world leading and inventing company GraphiStudio. This year in July, we will actually visit the production’s headquarter in Italy and hopefully will be able to give you even more details from there and show you some photos of their detailed procedures.
But it’s not just the outside of the wedding albums, which is important to us; there is also the design of the inside with your photos! Since we personalise every couple’s photography service, it’s all to natural to design as well each album in its own way. Every wedding is unique and different to the next one, so we can’t use the same layout for every wedding and drag and drop your photos in. It might take us more time, but we love to tell your wedding story as it unfolds. For sure we have some patterns, like we love to open and close the album with portraits of our couples, but the inside is always individual designed to the liking of you.
How we design them? Easy, you tell us. Before we start to design, we go through the different options with you, show you our samples. It’s in general pretty easy. First step, we want you to chose your 20 favourite photos. And believe us, this is already a hard decision. When you get around 1000 photos for a full day wedding, it’s hard to select only 20 photos from throughout the day. Once you have selected them, Marco will select the remaining photos around your favourites to tell the story of the day and reedit them for the album. Another option is, that you select all photos, but this would usually take a very long time and here again, we might end up with the required amount of photos, but once we put them together, there might be crucial moments missing. The next step is to decide, which moments you want and which you don’t want to include in the album. Key moments, we always ask for, is signing the certificate, big group photo (if we did it) and if you want to include small group photos of your families and friends (in case yes, we kindly ask you to pick your photos you want).
Once we have lined out what we want to include, you just decide on the design you would like, this includes the format. We generally prefer Square, since this gives us plenty of space for the photos to use the entire pages. Another option is landscape format, which will be then a panoramic style when you hold the album in your hands. Portrait format we usually don’t do at all, since we photograph to 90% in landscape format. Nest step is to decide the size of the album (standard size for us is 30x30cm or 36x24cm). You can go bigger or smaller and you should select how many pages you want to include. Again, within the standard we offer 50 pages (25 spreads), since this is the right amount to tell your story without missing a moment and without getting to crowded on the pages with photos. For the design layout choose between the classic, traditional or our modern style with a twist and let us know if you like it more minimalistic (average of 3-4 photos per page) or if you rather want to have more photos included. Kate will then create the layout and design and when it’s ready, will forward you a preview to check, if you are happy with it. We can do some small adjustments, in case a few photos are not to your liking from the ones Marco chose. In case (which hasn’t happen at all yet), you don’t like the layout at all, we can do a new design, but depending on the work included, it might come to an extra charge.
When everything is perfect, we send the files with the order details of the outside of the album to Italy and depending on which type of wedding book you chose, it will be ready for you to pick up in either 2 weeks (GoBook) or around 5 weeks for the other albums (WeddingBook, YoungBook).
