“Today marks 9 years together. 9 years ago you agreed to be my high school girlfriend, and 9 years later you are agreeing to be my wife. For all this time we have been together, we have always had the kind of mutual understanding which is only shared when there is true love. In this union we are equals; two halves of a whole.”
What a day! The wedding season is coming to a slowdown in Melbourne, the winter is coming closer every day, but on May 5th we were able to witness the union of the true love between Penny & Alex, a couple which was blessed with a truly amazing day. The weather was showing its best late autumn side and the day worked out to be just perfect. We started with the separates preparation near Mornington, after which we came together for their wedding ceremony and reception at the stunning venue of Baxter Barn, which is a heritage listed venue. Built in the 1870’s from vertical timber slabs cut from trees off its very own acreage, is one of the few still standing strong of its kind to date, it’s overflowing with rustic essence, nature filled charm and alluring beauty.
After the emotional ceremony, which was lead by the kind celebrant Lyndall, the couple decided to walk straight out and continue, without the usual congratulations of their families and friends. The reason being, we had not much time for portrait photos, before their cocktail style reception started and they were eager to have enough time for good photos. So we started off with the bridal party photos, releasing their bridesmaids and groomsmen to enjoy some free time and continued down at the little lake with their portrait session. They were very natural and it didn’t need much to explain or show to capture them as who they are.
Once finished with our session, we returned and enjoyed an amazing night at the Baxter Barn with the beautiful lit up barn and outside area (fairy lights wherever we looked at) and had some great food which was provided. But even the best day had to come to an end, so after the newlyweds cut the cake, had a stunning choreographed dance and some more portraits at night; we left to get back home. We are grateful for the joy and love this splendid couple shared with us and wish them both all the best for their life together.

“To quote a good man: We are two sides of the same coin. Opposites in some way, but the same in many more. … Whatever challenges we face, we will face them together and use those challenges as opportunities to grow.”
