Wow! That’s pretty much it. What can you say more than this if you have a location like Relais La Suvera for a wedding? In the beginning of August, just before we flew back to Melbourne, we had our last wedding in Italy for this trip and had the great honour of capturing the love story of Giulia & Stefano. Both are working and living in Siena, Italy, and searched for a nearby location, they could enjoy for their wedding ceremony. And they found the right spot! It was nothing less than a 5* luxury castle, which they rented completely. The origins of La Suvera go back to the High Middle Ages when the building was a fortified castle situated in the territory of the Sienna Signoria, in the Fief of the legendary Countess Ava Matilda de’ Franzosi, related to Clovis, the King of France, also known as the “Queen of Montemaggio”.
The wedding was organised by the dynamic wedding planner Simona, which did an absolute great job on the day throughout to the finish. Since the couple had the entire space for them reserved, they provided even us with a bed room to stay overnight, a room which was absolutely remarkable (the room was named after a very famous racehorse – Northern Dancer – and was in the Scuderia, the old stable). Upon our arrival at La Suvera, we started with the preparation of the bride and groom. Stefano arrived then with a classical MG cabriolet just in time for the ceremony, which was held in the castle’s own church.
Even though it was very hot, we had a relaxed and fun christian ceremony. Afterwards we took a group photo from the balcony of the castle and the couple opened the Aperitivo (canapés). While the guests enjoyed the outstanding appetisers, we started with the portrait session inside the castle. Once we finished, we had a very classy dinner under the stars, setup in front of the church with a long dining table. Absolutely magical. Simona did a great job in organising everything. The castle and its surroundings were brightly lit up and we couldn’t have asked for anything more.
After the dinner the newlyweds did cut the wedding cake, surrounded by their guests holding sparklers and did their first dance as husband and wife, followed by lots of dancing under the stars. Finally towards the end, just before the music had to be switched off, the boys enjoyed a cooling-off in the swimming pool with champagne. The groom wasn’t even bothered to take off his suit pants. 🙂 They clearly had lots of fun in the pool. We had such a beautiful day with Giulia & Stefano and greatly appreciated the stay at the hotel after the celebration finished around 2am. Special thanks to Simona, which guaranteed a smooth running of the day.
